Welcome to Rhode Island's Local Technical Assistance Program (RILTAP), focused on preserving and enhancing the local road system by supporting quality training and providing technical assistance to local city, county, and municipal road agencies throughout the state.
RILTAP's mission is to foster a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound surface transportation system in the State of Rhode Island by improving the skills and increasing the knowledge of the transportation workforce and decision makers through quality training, technical assistance and information sharing (technology transfer). We provide relevant and impactful information focused on road and bridge/culvert maintenance, the use of traffic control devices and other techniques to promote traffic safety.
Our goals for RILTAP are be recognized as a premier resource in developing and transferring innovative technologies, proven solutions and reliable services to successfully meet the evolving educational and training needs of the transportation community in Rhode Island.

RILTAP will focus on making innovation mainstream by encouraging and promoting innovative efforts, new technologies and innovation champions. New technologies will be showcased at all RILTAP activities to mainstream new methods and practices.
The Federal Highway Administration plays a major role in deployment of innovative technologies. It works with state departments of transportation, local governments and others through its Every Day Counts (EDC) program.
