Did you notice the State House glowing orange last month? RIDOT and AAA partnered for the special illumination to mark National Work Zone Awareness Week and at the start of construction season in Rhode Island. Always remember to drive carefully in work zones.

RIDOT delivering more projects on time with fewer added costs

RIDOT is working aggressively to deliver projects on time and to keep any cost overruns to a minimum. RIDOT works diligently with its contractors to bring projects to a resolution while greatly limiting the State's obligation for any added cost. Click here to learn more.

Draft TIP Available

The FY2013-2016 Transportation Improvement Program is now available in draft form. A public hearing on the draft document is scheduled for April 26 and public comments on the plan can be submitted until May 29.

Blue Ribbon Panel for Transportation Funding

In recognition of an increasingly serious reduction in highway funding and an aging transportation infrastructure in critical need of repair or replacement, Governor Carcieri has established a Blue Ribbon Panel to assess Rhode Island's transportation needs and to identify options for potential funding sources.

The mission of the panel is:

  • to fully understand the needs of transportation financing in Rhode Island;
  • to analyze and assess funding options, and
  • to recommend funding mechanisms and inform the public of the plan.

During its first six months in operation, the panel will investigate the State's aging transportation infrastructure and the Federal and State funding available to accommodate Rhode Island's needs. The group will explore and identify potential funding strategies to create a balanced approach for investing in the State's transportation system.
