Hi Neighbor,

On Monday, we will be closing a portion of Point Street, from the Point Street Bridge to Eddy Street, in Providence. Motorists traveling west will have to take a detour, currently scheduled to be in effect for one week. This is because of ongoing drainage and pavement improvements we are making as part of the Iway City Streets project. Read more about it here.

As always, to learn more about our projects and initiatives, visit our website or our Facebook page. You can also subscribe to our Twitter feed (@ridotnews) to receive daily notifications on traffic conditions.

Apponaug Circulator, Warwick

This week, we're planning on doing some site preparation work at the former mill site and some tree trimming and clearing operations. We will also be removing the traffic islands on Post Road at West Shore Road, and on Post Road at Veterans Memorial Drive. Possible lane closures are anticipated for these activities weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Barton Corner Bridge, Warwick

Our night work this week will continue to focus on drainage and paving operations at the median crossover. We'll be working on I-95 North and South at Exit 8 (Route 2), with alternating lane closures, Sunday night from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day, and Monday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

Central (White Church) Bridge, Barrington

An alternating traffic pattern is anticipated on Massasoit Avenue weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for construction activities. We will be pile driving for the new bridge piers, and dewatering and excavating at the east approach in preparation for construction of the new granite block wall. Excavation for permanent sheeting installation at the west approach will begin.

Division Road Roundabout, East Greenwich

We have placed the final pavement at the roundabout, and are scheduled to resurface from the roundabout to Route 2 next week.

Elmwood Avenue, Providence

We'll have alternating lane closures on Route 1 (Elmwood Avenue) North and South, from Cadillac Drive to Service Road No. 7, for sidewalk and curbing work, weekdays from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Broad Street North and South, from Trinity Square to Service Road No. 7, we'll have alternating lane closures for electrical work, weekdays from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Iway City Streets East, Providence

All traffic from Wickenden Street westbound is now following a detour down South Main Street. Expect narrowed lanes on South Main, South Water and Wickenden Streets, with a single-lane closure on South Water and Wickenden Streets weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. We will excavate on Wickenden Street and South Water Street for drainage, new curblines, signal foundations and electrical conduit. National Grid is continuing their work to repair a failed transmission line on South Main Street, with a left lane closure.

Iway City Streets West, Providence

Road Detour

Motorists traveling westbound on Point Street, between the Point Street Bridge and Eddy Street, will be required to follow a signed detour beginning Monday. Follow South Main Street to College Street to cross the Providence River. Next, follow Memorial Boulevard to Dyer Street and Eddy Street to return to Point Street at Davol Square. This detour is scheduled to be in effect for one week. More information is available here.

Ongoing Construction

Narrowing of city streets is anticipated weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friendship Street, Richmond Street (from Ship to Clifford Streets), Clifford Street and Chestnut Street (between Pine and Clifford Streets) will be narrowed to allow construction of utilities and the roadway. Project-wide grading and curb/sidewalk replacement is scheduled for sections of Friendship, Dyer, Clifford, Richmond and Chestnut Streets. Electrical systems are being constructed for the future traffic signals at Pine and Dorrance Street. Dyer Street, between Dorrance Street and Orange Street, remains under construction.

Kent Dam Spillway Bridge, Scituate

Final grading of Route 12 (Scituate Avenue) above the Gainer Dam will be performed in preparation of asphalt paving.  New granite bridge curb will be installed on top of the new bridge deck slabs, and formwork and rebar installation will continue for the new concrete approach slabs and bridge barrier.

Magnolia Street Bridge, Providence

We are proceeding with electrical conduit on city streets. Once the precast median barrier is finished being fabricated, we will install it on Route 6.

Middle Road Bridge, East Greenwich

We recently finished pouring concrete for the bridge deck. Next, we will be working on the sidewalks and then paving the bridge joints. A detour during the closure is available here.

Providence Viaduct, Providence

Weekend Work

On Saturday morning from 4-6 a.m., we'll need to close the off-ramp from Routes 6/10 East to I-95 South to repair a damaged attenuator. Follow detour using I-95 North.

Structural Steel Installation

The off-ramp from Routes 6/10 West to I-95 South will be closed for structural steel installation, Sunday-Tuesday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. We will also close Exit 22 (Downtown Providence/Routes 6 & 10) off of I-95 North for the same purpose, Wednesday and Thursday nights from midnight to 5 a.m. the following day. Follow signed detours for both operations.

Lane Closures

We'll have right lane and sidewalk closures on Promenade Street West, from Park to Holden Streets, for construction of the wall that faces the Foundry, Monday-Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. We will also have left lane and sidewalk closures on Providence Place East, from Harris Avenue to Park Street, for work on the temporary bridge, Monday-Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Route 165 Projects, Exeter

Route 165 Pavement Improvements

This week, we plan to continue installing roadside delineators. We will be working weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This will require a single-lane, alternating traffic pattern. Noise is anticipated and delays are possible. Commuters are advised to allow extra time for travel.

Ten Rod Road Bridge Reconstruction

Oversized Truck Detour & Temporary Restriction

An oversized truck detour remains in effect on I-95 North and South from Exit 4 (Route 3) to Exit 5 (Route 102). Oversized vehicles must temporarily detour to Route 3 to safely bypass I-95.

Regular truck traffic that is not detoured will be directed to use only the right lane from Monday night to Thursday morning in order to minimize vibrations on the freshly poured concrete decks.

Ongoing Construction

On Monday night, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day, the left lane on I-95 North and I-95 South will be closed to lane splits so concrete can be placed on both bridge decks. Tuesday and Wednesday nights, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day, expect a left lane closure to place gravel and grade in preparation for new asphalt while the concrete decks cure. Both concrete decks need to be wet cured for 14 days before further work can take place. Both lanes on I-95 North and I-95 South will be open through the 'split lanes' shift pattern during all other hours, except as noted above for concrete placement and curing. Weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Route 165 (Ten Rod Road), expect possible shoulder or alternating lane restrictions under the I-95 bridges for ongoing work on the bridge abutments.

Washington Bridge (George Redman) Linear Park, Providence

We're continuing to form, install reinforcement and place concrete at three bridge deck spans. We are also cleaning, repointing and grouting the existing granite at six spans and the southwest pylon. We will also reinstall the existing granite and apply anti-graffiti coating on the newly-cleaned granite and the cast-in-place parapet wall.
