The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) has closed Exit 27 on I-95 South. Motorists will have two options to reach their destination. RIDOT will establish detours with trailblazing signage both before and after the closed off-ramp, at Exit 30 (Roosevelt Avenue) and at Exit 25 (Smithfield Avenue).
The closure is necessary due to phased construction for the new Pawtucket River Bridge. On September 15, 2012, RIDOT shifted all travel lanes on I-95 South to a new bridge, eliminating an 18-ton weight limit and the need for local and highway truck detours.
