Question:
Regarding Item 800.9901, there are only four bridges listed in the distribution of quantities that would need platforms. However, there are other bridges that will require temporary platforms to complete the work. Page CS-8 states that work at bridges 138, 150, 161, 199, 225, and 271 shall be conducted from the bridge deck or via scaffolding or floating barges…” How will these working platforms be paid?
Answer:
Reference to Bridge 138 should be Bridge 136; this will be corrected by Addendum No. 3. Bridge No. 136 will not require a work platform since there are not repairs required inside the culvert. The DOQ includes quantity for Bridge No. 199. Quantities for work platforms on Bridges 26, 27, 28, and 199 assumes a work platform that extends the full deck area of the bridge plus five (5) feet beyond each fascia. Quantities for work platforms will be added for Bridges 150, 161, 225 and 271 by Addendum No. 3. Quantities for work platforms on Bridges 150, 161, 225 and 271 assumes a work platform is needed for 50% of the deck area. The payment for this item shall be based on the actual work platform installed at each bridge as required to perform the repairs at each bridge as approved by the Engineer.
