Page JS-35 of the specifications changes the basis of payment for Repairs to Structural Concrete Masonry (Patching Mortar) from cubic feet to square feet. Since the depth of the patches is unknown, the contractor has no way of estiimating with any degree of accuracy the volume of material that will be required. Please change the method of measurement and payment to cubic feet as specified in the RIDOT Standard Specifications.
Answer:
Page JS-35 will be deleted via addendum. This quantity will be measured by cubic foot as requested.

Page CS-1, Paragraph 3, should exclude the Contractor's responsibility for any utilities that are not properly located or marked.
Answer:
This will be revised via addendum to: "Any damage to existing utilities marked in the field, or damage that results from failure to contact the appropriate utility company, shall be replaced or repaired to the satisfaction of the Engineer at no additional cost to the State."

The last sentence of paragraph #5, page CS-4 (contract specific), states that "No separate payment shall be made" for cleaning storm drain structures after final riding surface - and prior to acceptance of the project. If items #37 & #38 are performed during this time frame will they be paid for?
Answer:
CS-4 Paragraph 5 requires the contractor to clean the drain system, e.g. pipes and structures, before final paving as indicated, and so the contractor shall perform the work for Item #37 & #38 before paving. The intent is to clean and identify any issues that need repair prior to final paving. After the final riding surface has been applied and prior to acceptance of the overall project, the Contractor shall clean and remove from storm drain structures any construction debris or other foreign materials generated by the construction operations, as required in accordance with Section 104.11.

Some of the concrete median markers to be removed are precast and some are cast-in-place. Is there a detail of the cast-in-place ones that show the thickness and any reinforcing?

There is no detail of the cast-in-place concrete gore marker available.

Question:
With reference to Code 415.9901 Intelligent Compaction for HMA, is the intent to use an IC roller for any HMA placed including Class 19.0, 12.5, 9.5 for patching, 9.5 for miscellaneous work and 9.5 for bridge decks, or is it only for the friction courses? Under the Method of Measurement please define the "totall number of days paving".
Answer:
This specification is intended for Friction Course only. The number of days paving will be tracked by counting each individual paving mobilization as a day of paving.

Page JS-34 Code 808.9901 Cast-in-Place Concrete Median Barrier calls for constructing barrier to the lines & deminsions as shown of RI Std. 40.1.0. The barrier to be replaced on sheet i of the plans is std. 40.2.0. Is the intent to replace the barrier in kind (40.2.0) or to the lines & dimensions of std. 40.1.0?
Answer:
The intent is to replace the barriers in kind; therefore, an addendum shall include a minor revision to this specification to state, "RI Std. 40.1.0 or 40.2.0, as applicable."
