Question:
Contract Specific page CS-6 requires the repair work to be performed from below the bridge and states "obstruction of traffic lanes, shoulders, or sidewalks on the bridge structure will not be permitted. Does RIDOT have a designated location approved for access to the track ROW along with a laydown area for the equipment and materials? If the contractor is able to access the repair area from the bridge using an approved traffic control plan will RIDOT reconsider this option given the restricted work hours.
Answer:
RIDOT does not have a designated laydown area identified in the Contract. Access points to the railroad exist less than .5 miles to the north and south of the Project site. RIDOT is not reconsidering the project requirements at this time.
