The schematic crane locations and erection sequence shown include the 125% factor of safety. It should be noted that the crane locations and erection sequence shown is for a potential erection scheme. The Contractor shall develop an erection plan and sequence and submit them to the Engineer for review.

Item 818.9901 Partial Deck Repairs - The specs state "partial depth repairs identified on the underside of the deck shall be repaired utilizing a full depth repair regardless of weather or not it extends beyond 50% of the deck thickness." The DOQ states 2430 SF of partial deck repairs, is the contractor to assume that all partial deck repairs will be repairs on the top of the deck and no underside partial repairs will be performed.

800.9902 - Wellington Ave Bridge - spec states on page JS-80 that Structural Steel Erect is included in the item but but on page JS-81 it states that the item is not included. Please clarify how 824.0100 is paid. Please clarify if only the keeper block steel is for the structural steel erect.

Structural Steel Erect is included in the Bridge Lump Sum. Page JS-81 will be revised to remove this from the excluded items. Structural Steel Erect under the Wellington Ave Bridge Lump Sum covers the keeper block plates, shim plates, and the intermediate diaphgrams that are located in the closure pours.

An approved RIDOT concrete plant has notified us the 3000 psi strength for high early concrete can be achieved between 24 hrs and 36 hrs. per past test results on other projects. If high early concrete has to be used for the deck repairs on Bridges 664 and 666, the traffic can't be placed on the new repair per the TMP time frame.
Answer:
The high early strength spec will be revised in the next addendum to allow a non portland cement concrete produced in a mobile mixer.

Volume 3 Sheet 3 Note 9 states that the front face of the parapets shall be provided with a concrete surface treatment . The DOQ calls for 5,725 SF for the parapets. We calculate 992 lf x 2' = 1984 SF. Please clarify where the remaining quantity is located.

Concrete surface treatment protective sealer shall be applied to top and side faces of parapet. Limits will be clarified on next addendum.

Volume 3 Sheet 7 and 8 shows areas where underside partial deck repairs are needed. Please clarify how underside deck repairs are paid for. If it is paid under 818.9901, the spec calls to use high early concrete. High Early concrete can't be used for underside deck repairs, a fast setting overhead repair mortar (ex. Sika VOH) needs to be used.
Answer:
Minor deck repairs to the underside of the deck shall be performed utilizing patching mortar. If partial depth deck repairs are required to the underside of the deck, full depth deck repairs shall be utilized. This will be clarified on the next addendum.

Traffic can be placed on the exposed deck. Traffic can be placed on the spray applied liquid membrane in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.

824.9901 - Temporary Shoring of Bridge 661. Is jacking of existing beams going to be required? Also does the department anticipate the contractor will shore every beam at once or will the shoring be completed in phases?
Answer:
Jacking of the existing beams of Bridge 661 is not required. The intent of the shoring is to allow for the beam seat modifications to be completed while the existing bridge is still in place. Shoring of the beams (and subsequent beam seat modifications) must occur prior to the accelerated weekends.

Not all locations require pedestals. Where the theoretical pedestal thickness is small, shim stacks are to be utilized . Refer to beam seat table on sheet 54.

The contract calls to use High Early Strength Concrete for the deck repairs, deck repair joints and end diaphragm encasements for Bridges 664 and 666. Please clarify why High early Concrete is needed for these locations if the work is completed behind barrier and under temp traffic plates? Is there a reason the 3000 psi compressive strength needs to be achieved sooner in these areas if vehicular live loads will not be placed on these areas immediately.

Contract documents will be revised to utilize Item 808.1501 Concrete Superstructure Class HP 3/4" Bridge Decks for the deck repair joints and end diaphragm encasements where roadway plates can be utilized. High early strength concrete is required for the deck repairs since the middle portion of the bridge can not be repaired using conventional staging and will require overnight closures where the use of roadway plates to cover each deck repair is not feasible.

Typical Micropile, Section 2 has a note stating “Plastic sheath for corrosion protection” indicating a double corrosion protected reinforcement bar. Micropile Note 5 states “Reinforcing bar shall be galvanized and conform to the requirements of AASHTO designation M31 (ASTM DESIGNATION A615) grade 75”. These two notes indicate different requirements for the reinforcement bar, which one is required? We would offer the galvanized reinforcement.

Reinforcing bar shall be galvanized and conform to the requirements of AASHTO designation M31 (ASTM DESIGNATION A615) grade 75. The double corrosion protection "sheath" is not required.
