New Exit 20: I-95 North to Point Street

RIDOT opened a new ramp on I-95 North on October 20, 2009. Exit 20 is located approximately one-quarter of a mile after Exit 19 (I-195) and provides access to Point Street. The ramp serves the Jewelry District, the Davol Square area, the Courthouse area, the west side of Providence and the R.I. hospitals complex.

The ramp was built to help replace access to certain areas of Providence that were once reached by former I-195 East exits.

The intersection at the end of the ramp will also service traffic coming from a new ramp from I-195 West to Point Street.

Other changes to this intersection will be coming in 2010 as Iway construction continues. These include construction of a new road across the old I-195 interchange to allow motorists to use this ramp to access the Down City area. RIDOT is also building a new bridge to carry Crawford Street over I-95. The combination of new roads and bridges will create an orderly pattern to circulate traffic to and from the Interstate.
