The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is planning to close I-95 North Exit 28 (School Street) in Pawtucket on Wednesday January 11, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The closure is necessary to allow for construction of a bridge structure that will temporarily service traffic on I-95 North during the construction of the new Pawtucket River Bridge.
RIDOT has established signed detours using Exit 27 (Downtown) or Exit 29 (Broadway/Cottage Street). Scroll down for detour maps and turn-by-turn directions.
The closure will also affect access to businesses such as Memorial Hospital which attracts large amounts of people, especially those from other parts of the state who are not familiar with driving in Pawtucket or the detours that have been in place to ongoing bridge construction.
