Quality Assurance is the new watchword at RIDOT for testing on highway projects. It combines Quality Control (QC) from the Contractors with Quality Acceptance (QA) from RIDOT and Independent Assurance (IA), also from RIDOT, to verify that the QA/QC meets current standards.
The ongoing effort will be the work of Materials and Research, partnering with RIDOT Construction and with guidance from FHWA, both locally and nationally. FHWA is promoting Quality Assurance to provide a comprehensive system to help insure that the work on projects meets the standards. Progress of other states will be reviewed and suitable elements will be considered if in keeping with the goals of the RIDOT initiative.
