The Hope Corridor Project will rehabilitate two bridges located approximately 200 feet apart along a section of Route 116 (Main Street) in the village of Hope in Scituate. The work will take eight months and require detours using major local and state roads. A specific detour will be set up for trucks.
The two bridges being rehabilitated are the Hope Bridge which carries Main Street over the Pawtuxet River and the nearby Hope Hill Trench Bridge. Both bridges were built in 1930 and rated in fair condition. They carry 88,000 vehicles daily. In addition to the bridges this project also provides for resurfacing of numerous roads in the area.
