Question:
Item Code 413, Rideability - Surface Course; This project is a 2 lane road, no full width shoulders and open to traffic during the surface course paving operation. Normally, RIDOT requires the transfer machine/trucks to be offset from the paver so they do not travel on the tack coat, but due to restrictions noted above, this project will require the transfer machine/trucks to travel over the tack coat. This comment is for information purposes.
Answer:
Code 413 Rideability-Surface Course shall be in accordance with the specification, as applicable.

Question:
Item #26 calls for full depth reclamation with calcium chloride. Plan sheet #9 - General Note #6 says calcium chloride shall not be used for dust control. Is there a conflict between these?
Answer:
There is not a conflict between Item 26 and Plan Sheet No. 9, General Note No. 6. The calcium chloride that is being used with the full-depth reclamation is for increasing stability and density, which yields a longer lasting base and roadway, and not for dust control.

Question:
In addition to the high percentage concerns pertaining to the 'As Directed" quantities on Items 201.0414 & 701.0512, the contractor doesn't know if the work is at road crossings or on the shoulders. Road crossing work is much more expensive when the road is open to traffic as is the case on this project. At the least, the State should provide a quantities for road crossings and shoulders on both items.

See answer below.
