The Project

This project consists of construction of a new roundabout at the intersections of Brown Street, Phillips Street, and Boston Neck Road in downtown Wickford. The project includes installation of new exposed aggregate sidewalks and curb ramps, new granite curbing and a new road surface. RIDOT will also put in all new signage and road striping with proper drainage systems.  All work will  be performed at night from 9PM-6AM.  A detour will be in effect for Brown Street access during the construction. It will include trucks only and transition to a full detour of traffic as construction progresses. It is anticipated that the construction will take approximately 60 days to complete.

The proposed mini-roundabout will have two lanes with a width of approximately 28’0” and a circumference of approximately 88’0” to accommodate the limited space at the intersection of Brown Street, Boston Neck Road, and Phillips streets.  The installed roundabout will provide a smoother transition through this intersection and reduce traffic backups.

• A temporary detour from Route 102 to Brown Street may be required.  Motorists will travel north on Tower Hill Road to West Main Street.  Travel east on West Main Street,  and south to Brown Street.
• A temporary detour from Brown Street or Main Street to Route 102 may be required. Motorists will travel west on West Main Street, turn left onto Tower Hill Road and travel south to Route 102.
• A temporary detour from Route 138 to Phillips Street may be required. Motorists will travel west on Route 138 turn right onto Tower Hill Road and travel north to Phillips Street.
