Response: Item 839.0100 “Partial-Depth Removal and Disposal of Bituminous Pavement from Concrete Bridge Decks” is intended for use prior to “Final Paving” of the bridge, after completion of Phase 3. Refer to detail on Plan Sheet 42/53.

The expected locations of substructure repair (Items 817.9901 and 817.9902) are not identified on the plans. Is there any additional information available on the proposed repair locations? It would appear that this work will need to be performed from Route 95. What is the proposed traffic control requirement for each repair location?
Answer:
Response: As stated in the Concrete Rehabilitation Notes on Bridge General Notes Sheet 1, repairs shall be performed to visibly deteriorated concrete at the direction of the Engineer. Payment will be made under Item Codes 817.9901 and 817.9902 based on the actual surface area repaired. Single or two lane temporary closures should be utilized as required and as shown in the Maintenance and Protection of Traffic plans.
