Question:
Concrete for concrete end repairs call for a rapid set concrete. Please clarify why a rapid set concrete is needed if traffic plates are used to cover the area after it is poured. In past porject a HP mix was used. Ususally rapid set concrete is used if traffic needs to placed on the concrete after it is poured. The department should consider using a HP mix since the rapid set comcrete is very expensive. |

Rapid set concrete is proposed in order to reduce the amount of time the roadway is plated and reduce impacts to traffic. |

Question:
Bridge 072921 calls to remove the bridge deck paving and install new waterproofing and paving and work must be complete at night only. All this work can't be completed in one night. Will the traffic be allowed to drive on the concrete deck after the paving is removed and is the traffic allowed to drive on the waterproofing after the it is waterproofed? |

Answer:
Yes. Subsequent to the pavement removal, vehicular traffic will be permitted to drive over the concrete deck. Also, the traffic will be allowed to drive over the newly installed waterproofing membrane for a short duration, as recommended and required by the waterproofing membrane manufacturer. |
