Question:
Please consider breaking out Item #10 - 401.9904 "Hot Mix Asphalt And Related work" - 5000 tons into (3) separate bid items: Class 19.0 HMA, Class 12.5 Mod. HMA, and asphalt tack coat. Due to the difference of cost between producing the (2) different types of HMA they should not be combined into one catch-all item. If field conditions require added quantity of the 12.5 Mod. HMA material percentage wise to the total tonnage, the contractor will be required to take a loss due to the averaging of the costs for the (2) HMA types. |
