Background information on the the Iway (I-195 Relocation) project.
New Exit 20: I-95 South to I-195 East
RIDOT and the City of Providence hosted a public meeting on February 1, 2010 to discuss proposed changes to city streets in the Jewelry District, Downcity and Wickenden Street areas once the old I-195 corridor has been demolished. Demolition of the old highway is proposed to take place in 2010 and reconstruction of city streets - many of which were bisected by the construction of the original highway - will take place in 2011 and 2012.

RIDOT is committed to working with the city and its neighborhoods to accomplish the goal of rebuilding local streets and allowing for improved traffic flow for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists in the old I-195 corridor.
