I-95 North Viaduct, Providence

Providence: I-95 North motorists are using a new traffic pattern after the Downtown exit and near Providence Place Mall with a newly relocated Exit 38, about one mile south of its former location. RIDOT has posted numerous signs to clearly guide motorists to their destinations.

Providence: I-95 North, at Exit 38B (State Offices), exit closed for milling and paving, Fri. night (May 3), 10 p.m.-10 a.m. Sat. morning (May 4.) Follow signed detour.

Providence: On-ramps to I-95 North from Rte. 6 East and from Memorial Blvd. (Rte. 6 West) will be closed for traffic shift implementation, Fri. & Sat. nights (May 3 and 4), 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. Follow signed detours.

Providence: I-95, from Exit 37A to Exit 39A, alternating lane closures and a right lane shift at Exit 38 for traffic shift, Fri. & Sat. nights (May 3 and 4), 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.

Providence: I-95 North at Exit 37 B,C,D interchange, right exit closed for pier repairs, Sun. – Thurs. nights, 11 p.m. – 6 a.m. Follow signed detour.

Providence: I-95, from Exit 37A to Exit 39A, alternating lane closures for median barrier installation, Sun. – Thurs. nights, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.

Washington Bridge, East Providence/Providence

New Traffic Pattern: Bypass lanes for I-195 West traffic from East Providence to Providence are open. This temporary traffic pattern allows three lanes of travel eastbound and three lanes of travel westbound – all operating on the eastbound Washington Bridge. Expect delays.

Providence/East Providence: I-195, from South Main St. to Broadway, alternating lane closures for striping, Sun.-Thurs. nights, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.

New Traffic Pattern

Cumberland: I-295, over Rte. 122 (Mendon Rd.), at the Mendon Rd. Bridge, travel lanes reduced from three to two for bridge work through late 2024.

Temporary Ramp Closure

Pawtucket: On-ramp from Fountain St. to I-95 North will be closed for survey work, Sun. – Wed. nights, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Follow signed detour.

Overnight

East Providence/Barrington: I-195, from the Mass. line to I-95 South, various lanes closed with frequent vehicle access in/out of the work zones in a moving operation for sweeping, Mon. night, 9:30 p.m.-3 a.m. Expect delays.

Hopkinton: I-95 South, from Exit 1 to the Connecticut line, alternating lane closures for road construction, Sun. – Fri. (May 10) nights, 6 p.m. – 6 a.m.

Providence/Cranston: I-95 North, from Broad St. overpass to Exit 35, right lane closed for drainage work, Wed. night, 9:30 p.m.-4 a.m.

Providence/Cranston: I-95 North, from Broad St. overpass to Exit 35, left lane closed for drainage work, Mon. night, 9 p.m.-7 a.m.

Providence: I-95 South, from Exit 36A to Exit 36B, and on the Eddy St. off-ramp (Exit 36B), alternating lane closures for bridge power washing, Sun.-Thurs. nights, 9 p.m.-4 a.m.

Lincoln: The on-ramp from Rte. 146 South to I-295 North will be closed for bridge work through the fall. Follow signed detour.

Lincoln: Exit 18A off I-295 South, plus the Rte. 246 South Service Rd., from Exit 8B to Exit 7B, closed for bridge demolition, Sun. night, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Follow signed detour.

Lincoln: Exit 18B off I-295 North closed for bridge work, Sun. – Thurs. nights, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Follow signed detour.

Lincoln: Exit 18B off I-295 South, Exit 8B off Rte. 146 North, and the Rte. 146 North Service Rd., from Exit 8A to Exit 8C, closed for bridge work, Mon.-Thurs. nights, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Follow signed detour.

Lincoln: Rte. 146, from Exit 7 to Exit 8C, extended rolling roadblocks for bridge work, Mon.-Thurs. nights, midnight-6 a.m. through Fri. morning (May 17.) Please follow signed detours.

Rte. 146A South, at the off-ramp to Rte. 146 South: travel lanes are narrow

6/10 Interchange Project (Providence)

Route 10

Rte. 10 North, from Union Ave. to Tobey St., alternating lane closures for landscaping work, Mon. – Fri., 6:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Rte. 10 South, all lanes shift to the left near the Broadway overpass.
Westminster Street off-ramp is temporarily closed.

Route 6

Rte. 6 East, from Plainfield St. to Flyover Bridge, alternating lane closures for paving, Sun. night, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m.
Plainfield St. at the Rte. 6 overpass, alternating lane closures for curb & sidewalk work, Mon. – Fri., 6:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

6/10 Connector

On the Connector outbound a new lane split is in place for Rte. 10 South and Rte. 6 West, several hundred feet south of its previous location. Lanes are narrow.

Affected City Streets

The Tobey St. and Harris Ave. on-ramps are closed. Follow signed detours.
Traffic shifted on the Broadway and Westminster St. bridges over the highway.
Westminster St. on-ramp to Rte. 10 South is closed. Follow signed detour.

Project-wide

Periodic one-lane closures possible along Rte. 10 and Rte. 6 on off-peak hours, Mon. – Fri.
