I-95 Providence: I-95 North, from Elmwood Ave. to Eddy St., right lane closed for bridge work, Monday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

I-95 Richmond to West Greenwich: I-95 North and South, from the Connecticut state line at Exit 93 to Exit 6A (Hopkins Hill Rd.), alternating lane closures in a moving operation for pothole patching, Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Expect delays.

I-195 Smithfield: I-295 North and South, from Exit 7B (Rte. 44 West) to Exit 8A (Rte. 7 South), right shoulder closures for a bridge inspection, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-95 West Greenwich: I-95 North and South, from Austin Farm Rd. to Robin Hollow Rd., right shoulder closures for drainage work, Monday-Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

I-95 West Greenwich: I-95 North and South at Exit 5 (Rte. 102), right shoulder closures for tree trimming and brush cutting at the on- and off-ramps, Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m

I-95 Exeter/Richmond: Watch for construction vehicles exiting and entering the median area along I-95 South after Exit 5 (Rte. 102) at the Tefft Hill Trail Bridge, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Spring 2017.

Other Limited Access Highway Restrictions

Temporary Road Closures

Rte 146 North Smithfield: As part of the Central St. Bridge Replacement Project, the following segments of Rte. 146 North and South are scheduled to close, with gradual reopenings, from Friday, March 24- midnight on Saturday, March 25. Please follow signed detours during all closure periods:

  • Rte. 146 South at Exit 1 in Uxbridge, MA will close Friday night at 10 p.m.
  • Rte. 146 North at the Forestdale/Slatersville exit in North Smithfield will close Friday night at 10 p.m.
  • Rte. 146 South at Exit 1, right lane is scheduled to reopen by 8 a.m. on Saturday morning.
  • Rte. 146 South at Exit 1, all lanes are scheduled to reopen by 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
  • Rte. 146 North at the Forestdale/Slatersville exit, all lanes are scheduled to reopen by midnight on Saturday night.

Rte 6 Providence: Rte. 6 East and Memorial Blvd. ramps to I-95 South, alternating lane closures and shifts for a bridge inspection, Thursday night from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. the following day.

Rte 4 East Greenwich and North Kingstown: Rte. 4 North and South, from I-95 to Rte. 403, shoulder closures for sign installation, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please note: an adjacent lane closure may be needed at times throughout the operation.

Rte 24 Portsmouth: Rte. 24 North and South, from Rte. 138 to Turnpike Ave., alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Rte 6 Rte 10 Providence: Truck traffic is restricted to the right lane from the Westminster St. overpass over Rte. 10 South/Rte. 6 West to the Rte. 6/Rte. 10 interchange, and on Rte. 6 East at the Rte. 6/Rte. 10 interchange.

Providence: Westminster St. South, from Dorrance St. to Exchange St., road closed for construction, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Follow signed detour.

Providence: Francis St., just south of Memorial Blvd., road closure possible for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. Follow signed detour.

New Traffic Pattern

Rte 152 East Providence: Rte. 152 (Newman Ave.) North & South, from Barney St. to the Massachusetts state line, alternating one-way traffic for bridge construction now in effect for the duration of the project.

East Providence: Pawtucket Ave. North and South, from Warren Ave. to Waterman Ave., left lane closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

Providence: Francis St., from Exchange Terrace to Memorial Blvd. and at its intersection with the Rte. 6/I-95 ramps, lane closures possible for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. Noise anticipated.

Providence: Public St. East and West under I-95, alternating shoulder closures for a bridge inspection, Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Rte 7 Providence: Rte. 7 East at the Geneva Pond Bridge between Lexington Ave. and Lubec St., alternating one-way traffic for bridge work, Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Rte 44 Providence: Rte. 44 (Smith St.) East, from Gaspee St. to Canal St., right lane and sidewalk closures for barrier placement through Spring 2017.

Providence: Elmwood Ave. North and South, from the I-95 underpass to the entrance to Roger Williams Park, has continuous alternating lane closures for construction and bridge work through May 2018.

Ongoing Restriction

Newport: In order to accommodate construction work at the Newport Transportation and Visitors Center, motorists will experience a right lane closure on America’s Cup Ave., from Gladys Carr Bolhouse Rd. to West Marlborough St., through June 2017.  RIPTA has designated temporary bus stop locations along America’s Cup Avenue since the Visitors’ Center boarding area will be closed for the duration of the project.  For more information, please visit https://www.ripta.com/newport-gateway-center

Temporary Bridge Closure

Weekday

Rte 5 North Smithfield: Rte. 5 (Providence Pike), between Main St. and Church St. in Slatersville, there is an existing single-lane alternating traffic pattern due to bridge condition. Portable traffic signals are in place to direct vehicles over the bridge. Please note: bridge work will take place Tuesday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Smithfield: Mountaindale Rd. East and West, from Carlton’s Way to Sebille Rd., alternating one-way traffic for a bridge inspection, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Rte 122 Woonsocket: On Rte. 122 (Hamlet Ave.) at the Hamlet Avenue Bridge over the Blackstone River, temporary lane shifts possible for bridge work through Fall 2017.

West Bay

Temporary Road Closure

117 Warwick: Rte. 117 (Centerville Rd.), east of Meadow St. to Post Rd., remains closed to through traffic for construction.  Local traffic access will be maintained to the businesses. Lane shifts are possible in this same area weekdays for drainage work.

Overnight

Warwick: Post Rd. Village at Music Lane, one eastbound lane closed, with lane shifts anticipated for construction, Wednesday night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. Please note: shoulder parking will be prohibited and traffic shifted during this operation.

Weekday

Warwick: Jefferson Blvd. North at the Rte. 37 overpass, right lane closed for bridge work, Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Warwick: Route 5 (Greenwich Ave.) at Post Rd., shoulder closures for construction, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Continuing

Rte 2 Warwick: Rte. 2 North, from Rhode Island Mall to the I-295 overpass, left lane closed for bridge work through Summer 2017.

117 Warwick: Rte. 117 (Centerville Rd.), from Meadow St./Burger King to Post Rd. (Apponaug Four Corners), Eastbound and Westbound traffic are now using the Veterans Memorial Dr. Extension.  Centerville Rd. is closed to thru traffic from Post Rd. to Meadow St. Please note: access to/from businesses is maintained.

Warwick: A temporary traffic signal has been activated at the Metro Center Blvd. Bridge carrying Metro Center Blvd. over the Airport Connector. With this activation, the detour has been removed. Motorists will now experience one lane of alternating traffic, and possible delays, through Spring 2017.

Warwick: Airport Connector East at the Jefferson Blvd. off-ramp, lanes shifted to the high speed lane, with all exits open. Westbound traffic will continue through the current configuration through Spring 2017.
