Interstate Highway Restrictions

Temporary Exit Closures

I-95 I-195 Providence: Due to a new traffic pattern, motorists on I-95 South to I-195 East do not have access to Exit 2 (Gano St./India St.). Follow detour using Exit 5 (Warren Ave.) to reverse direction and use I-195 West to Exit 3 (Gano St.). This restriction should be in place through mid-June.

Temporary Traffic Pattern - Divided Highway

I-195 Providence: I-195 East and West, between the I-95 interchange and Exit 2 (EB: India St./Gano St.; WB: South Main St.), three lanes to the left and one to the right for bridge work through the end of May.

Overnight

I-95 Cranston/Providence: I-95 North, from Elmwood Ave. to Eddy St., alternating lane closures for bridge work, Sunday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

I-95 East Greenwich to West Warwick: I-95 North and South, including the ramps, expect alternating lane closures in a moving operation for roadway striping, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

I-195 Pawtucket: I-95 North and South, from Central Ave. to the Massachusetts state line, right lane and shoulder closures for survey work, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day.

I-95 Providence: I-95 South, from the Orms St. Bridge to Exit 21 (Atwells Ave.), alternating lane closures for construction, Monday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

I-95 Providence: I-195 East at Exit 2 (Gano St.), lane closures possible for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

I-195 Warwick to Cumberland: I-295 North and South, including the ramps, expect alternating lane closures in a moving operation for roadway striping, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

I-95 Cranston/Providence: I-95 North, from Exit 16 (Rte. 10) to Exit 18 (Thurbers Ave.), and I-95 South, from Exit 17 (Rte. 1) to Exit 16 (Rte. 10), right shoulder closures for a bridge inspection, Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-95 Providence: I-95 North at Exit 19 (I-195), I-195 East from the I-95 interchange to Exit 2 (Gano St./India St.), and I-195 West, from Exit 2 (South Main St.) to Exit 1A (Point St.), watch for construction activities behind barrier and vehicles entering and exiting, Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

I-95 Providence: I-195 East at Exit 2 (Gano St.), ramp narrowing for construction, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-195 Providence
: I-195 West at I-95 South, and I-95 North at Exit 19 (I-195), right shoulder closures for a bridge inspection, Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

I-95 Richmond/Hopkinton: I-95 North and South, from Exit 2 (Hopkinton) to the Connecticut state line, left and right shoulders closed in a moving operation for grass mowing, Thursday - Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 a.m.

I-95 Warwick: I-95 North at Exit 10 (Rte. 117), left shoulder closed on the off-ramp for drainage work, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-95 West Greenwich/Richmond: I-95 North and South, at the ramps for Exit 4 (Rte. 3) and Exit 5 (Rte. 102), right shoulder closed for grass mowing, Thursday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m

Ongoing Restrictions

I-195 East Providence: On I-195 East, between Exit 6 (Broadway) and the Massachusetts state line, motorists need to use the far right lane to access Exit 7 (Rte. 114). The two left lanes are for I-195 East through traffic only. The right lane also can be used for access to Exit 8 (Warren Ave.) or to continue on I-195 East into Massachusetts.

I-95 Exeter/Richmond: Watch for construction vehicles exiting and entering the median area along I-95 South after Exit 5 (Rte. 102) at the Tefft Hill Trail Bridge, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Spring 2017.

Rte 4 North Kingstown: Rte. 4 North and South, from I-95 to Rte. 403, lane closures possible for paving, Sunday night: Rte. 4 North from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. and Rte. 4 South from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day, and Monday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. Please note: temporary ramp closures at Rte. 4 and Rte. 2, Rte. 4 and Rte. 102, and Rte. 4 and Rte. 401, are also possible Sunday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following day. Rte 6 Providence: Rte. 6 East, from Hartford Ave. to Broadway, left lane closed for bridge work, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

Rte 10 Providence/Cranston: Rte. 10 North and South, from the Rte. 6/10 split to Park Ave., expect alternating lane closures in a moving operation for roadway striping, Tuesday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

146 Providence/Lincoln: Rte. 146 North and South, from I-95 to Sherman Ave., left lane closed in a moving operation for bridge work, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

Rte 78 Westerly: Rte. 78 East and West and its ramps, partial right lane closures in a moving operation for striping, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

Rte 114 East Providence and Barrington: On Rte. 114 and its ramps, from I-195 to Rte. 103 (County Rd.), expect alternating lane closures in a moving operation for roadway striping, Monday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

Cranston: Wellington Ave. North and South, from Jersey St. to Paine Ave., partial right lane and shoulder closures for a bridge inspection, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pawtucket: Taft St., near the boat ramp under the Division St. Bridge, one lane closed for construction, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Providence: Allens Ave. southbound, at the intersection for Blackstone St., right lane and shoulder closed for drainage work, Tuesday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Providence: Memorial Bvd. at Francis St., and Francis St. at Exchange Terrace/Sabin St., lane closures possible for traffic signal work, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Rte 44 Providence: Rte. 44 (Smith St.) East and West, from Lyndhurst Ave. to Chalkstone Ave., shoulder closures possible for construction, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parking may be prohibited within the construction zone.

Providence: South/North Main St. North, from Smith St. to Thomas St., lane and shoulder closures possible for construction, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Providence: Lane closures and intermittent traffic stoppages are possible for construction on the following roads: Promenade St. at Pleasant Valley Parkway, and Dean St., and Kinsley Ave., Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additionally, during that same time period, the lane from Kinsley Ave. to Providence Place may be closed. Traffic should follow the detour from Dean St. (South) to West Exchange St. to Sabin St., back to West Exchange St. and then to Dean St. (North).

Ongoing Restriction

Rte 44 Providence: Rte. 44 (Smith St.) East, from Gaspee St. to Canal St., right lane and sidewalk closures for barrier placement through Spring 2017.

Continuing

Providence: Elmwood Ave. North and South, from the I-95 underpass to the entrance to Roger Williams Park, has continuous alternating lane closures for construction and bridge work through May 2018.

West Bay

Extended Lane Closure

Warwick: Roundabout at Greenwich Ave./Veterans Memorial Dr./Veterans Memorial Dr. Extension, left lane closures for stamped concrete crosswalk placement/curing, continues through Wednesday, May 24. Please note: after the left lane closures, the right lanes will be closed through Wednesday, May 31. Expect delays, and seek alternate routes, if possible.

Temporary Road Closure

117 Warwick: Rte. 117 (Centerville Rd.), east of Meadow St. to Post Rd., remains closed to through traffic for construction until the final traffic configuration is implemented. Local traffic access will be maintained to the businesses. Please note: lane shifts for construction are also anticipated Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Warwick: Coronado Rd. East and West, from Rte. 1 (Post Rd.) to Jefferson Blvd., road closed for paving, Sunday night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. Follow signed detour.

Overnight

Warwick: Post Rd. at Music Lane, lane shifts possible for construction, Thursday night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

Coventry: Arnold Rd. North and South, from New London Tpke. to Johnson Blvd., one lane of alternating traffic for Town of Coventry sewer work, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Summer 2017.

Warwick: Apponaug Four Corners at Centerville Rd. and Post Rd., lane shifts for construction, Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Warwick: Post Rd. Village, from Apponaug Four Corners to West Shore Rd., one lane closed, with shoulder closures possible for construction, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Parking may also be impacted within the construction zone.

Warwick: Greenwich Ave., from Apponaug Four Corners to Veterans Memorial Dr., lane shifts for construction, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Warwick: At the Toll Gate Rd./Veterans Memorial Dr. Extension/Centerville Rd./Gilbane St. Roundabout, intermittent lane closures and shifts, Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Rte 2 Warwick: Rte. 2 North, from Rhode Island Mall to the I-295 overpass, left lane closed for bridge work through Summer 2017.

117 Warwick: Rte. 117 (Centerville Rd.), from Meadow St./Burger King to Post Rd. (Apponaug Four Corners), Eastbound and Westbound traffic are now using the Veterans Memorial Dr. Extension.  Centerville Rd. is closed to thru traffic from Post Rd. to Meadow St. Please note: access to/from businesses is maintained.

Warwick: A temporary traffic signal has been activated at the Metro Center Blvd. Bridge carrying Metro Center Blvd. over the Airport Connector. With this activation, the detour has been removed. Motorists will now experience one lane of alternating traffic, and possible delays, through Spring 2017.

Warwick: Airport Connector East at the Jefferson Blvd. off-ramp, lanes shifted to the high speed lane, with all exits open. Westbound traffic will continue through the current configuration through Spring 2017.
