Interstate Highway Restrictions

Ongoing Pattern

I-195 Providence: On I-195 East and West, between the I-95 interchange and Exit 2 (EB: India St./Gano St.; WB: South Main St.), traffic has shifted to four lanes to the right with left lane and shoulder closures for construction. Watch for construction activities behind barrier and vehicles entering and exiting. Motorists should not stop in the work zone or change lanes. All lanes go through.

Overnight

I-95 Cranston/Providence: I-95 North and South, from Elmwood Ave. to Eddy St., alternating lane closures for bridge work, Sunday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

I-195 East Providence: I-195 East and West, from Exit 6 (Rte. 103/Broadway) to Exit 8 (Rte. 6), lane closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

I-95 Hopkinton to Pawtucket: Expect right shoulder closures in a moving operation for survey work at the following locations on I-95 North and South, Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: at the Mechanic St. Bridge in Richmond, between Exit 2 (Hopkinton) and Exit 3B (Rte. 138); at the Tefft Hill Trail Bridge in Exeter, between Exit 4 (Rte. 3) and Exit 5 (Rte. 102); at Exit 10B (Rte. 117 West); at the Oxford St. Bridge in Providence; and at Exit 30 (East St.)

I-95 Providence/East Providence: Expect right shoulder closures in a moving operation for survey work at the following locations on I-195 East and West, Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: at the Gano St. Bridge in Providence; and at the Valley St. Bridge in East Providence.

Ongoing Restrictions

I-195 East Providence: On I-195 East, between Exit 6 (Broadway) and the Massachusetts state line, motorists need to use the far right lane to access Exit 7 (Rte. 114). The two left lanes are for I-195 East through traffic only. The right lane also can be used for access to Exit 8 (Warren Ave.) or to continue on I-195 East into Massachusetts.

I-95 Exeter/Richmond: Watch for construction vehicles exiting and entering the median area along I-95 South after Exit 5 (Rte. 102) at the Tefft Hill Trail Bridge, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Summer 2017.

146 Lincoln/North Smithfield/Providence: Expect right shoulder closures in a moving operation for survey work at the following locations, Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Rte. 146 North and South at the Rte. 116 Bridge in Lincoln, and at the Rte. 104 Bridge in North Smithfield; and on Rte. 6 East and West at the Pedestrian Overpass in Providence.

Rte 24 Portsmouth/Tiverton: Rte. 24 North and South, from Rte. 114 to the Massachusetts state line, including the ramps, partial right lane and shoulder closures in a moving operation for drainage work, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Rte 1 Westerly: Rte. 1 North and South, from the Charlestown town line to the Connecticut state line, lane closures for drainage work, Wednesday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Rte 6 Rte 10 Providence: Truck traffic is restricted to the right lane from the Westminster St. overpass over Rte. 10 South/Rte. 6 West to the Rte. 6/Rte. 10 interchange, and on Rte. 6 East at the Rte. 6/Rte. 10 interchange.

Rte 4 Warwick: Rte. 4 South, from the I-95 split to Exit 8 (Rte. 2/East Greenwich), right shoulder closed until December 2017 for bridge work.

Weekend Temporary Road Closures

East Providence: Veterans Memorial Parkway, from Pawtucket Ave. to South Broadway, will be closed for drainage work, early Saturday from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m. From Veterans Memorial Parkway South, follow detour by taking a left on South Broadway. From Pawtucket Ave. North, stay right to I-195.

Temporary Road Closures

Rte 5 Johnston: Rte. 5 (Greenville Ave.) at I-295 is closed for Narragansett Bay Commission sewer line installation through November 2017. The work zone has been modified with the closure from Salina Ave. to Atwood Ave. Follow signed detours. Please note: the road will remain open to local traffic and emergency vehicles. West Bay

Ongoing Traffic Pattern

Warwick: At Apponaug Four Corners (Post Rd. at Centerville Rd. and Greenwich Ave.), a new traffic pattern has been established. Motorists are now required to navigate through the area around traffic barrels as a phase in the roundabout development. Stay to the right of the barrels. Please note: work on the center roundabout area will continue in the middle of the barrels. Intermittent lane closures are possible during construction. 

Temporary Road Closure

Rte 117 Warwick: Rte. 117 (Centerville Rd.), east of Meadow St. to Post Rd., including the bridge, remains closed to through traffic for construction until the final traffic configuration is implemented. Local traffic access will be maintained to the businesses.

Warwick: Airport Connector East at the Jefferson Blvd. off-ramp, lanes shifted to the high speed lane, with all exits open. Westbound traffic will continue through the current configuration through Winter 2017.
