The $35.8 million Tower Hill Road project includes replacement of the 55-year-old Tower Hill Road Bridge, carrying Tower Hill Road over Route 138 in North Kingstown, and resurfacing of 6.5 miles of Tower Hill Rd (US-1) from the Route 4 split in North Kingstown to the Oliver Stedman Government Center in South Kingstown.
Throughout the bridge’s replacement, we will utilize Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) methods and (SPMTs) Self-Propelled Modular Transporters. Additional work includes replacing the existing wheelchair ramps at the Bridgetown Road/Morresfield Road intersection with ADA compliant ones, and improving stormwater treatment.
Overnight drainage and electrical work at the Routes 138/1 (Tower Hill Road) ramps require lane and temporary exit and ramp closures next week. Crews will be working Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., with the holiday schedule exception of Monday and Tuesday nights. Motorists can also expect alternating lane closures to install traffic signal loops on Route 1, from Shermantown Road to the Oliver Stedman Government Center, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. |
