This comprehensive project will replace two structurally deficient bridges on Route 113 where it passes over I-95 and I-295, carrying approximately up to 33,000 vehicles per day. Route 113 is a major east-west corridor for Warwick, linking large residential and commercial areas including access to the Community College of Rhode Island’s Knight Campus. The project includes paving, sidewalk work, ADA accessibility, new traffic signal upgrades, new pedestrian crossing features, and many other safety improvements along other important corridors in the city.

Next week at this project, we will continue building new traffic signals along Route 113 (East Avenue), from the Community College of Rhode Island to Route 2. Although no lane closures are expected, our crews will excavate and place concrete for the mast arm foundations, while removing forms from those they have already built. On Friday night, March 13, weather permitting, we anticipate shifting travel lanes for eastbound traffic on Route 113 to the right where it passes over I-95 and I-295 in Warwick. Traffic along Route 113 West will not be affected. All ramps and exits will remain open, except for the ramp from Route 113 East to I-95 North, which is anticipated to reopen in early spring. |
